§ About me

Where did it all start.  Well, there were several events that occurred where I became aware that there is more to life than what I realized.  One Sunday morning, I made the decision to go relax and read in the park.  It was there, sitting under the tree, that I became aware, "it's more to the wind, the squirrel and the tree than what I am seeing."  There was something more.  Then a hawk flew overhead and I wondered, "what is a hawk doing in the middle of this city?"  In reflection, I realized that my questions were a sign of my awakening.

Soon after, I decide to meditate for the first time.  During the meditation,I experienced being an eagle flying out over the land, traveling to different places and seeing the ocean.  My spirit knew where it was going and what it was doing.  I felt it was waiting for me to catch up.  I beleive it was then that I starting taking conscious steps on my spiritual path.  My eyes began to open.  And the journey continues.  Thank you Spirit.

§ My training, education and the path to here

• Spiritual Life Coach.  My training as a life coach began with the three year Spiritual Life Coaching program at the Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development (IVISD).  Currently, I am on the faculty of IVISD, serving as a member of the team that is teaching others to be life coaches.  I served on the Membership Committee of the International Association of Coaches.  I am a member of Coachville, which is a international life coaching resource, networking and training organization.  

• Usui Reiki Master Teacher.  I received my Reiki level I, II, & III (Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher) from two powerful and experienced Usui Reiki Master Teachers.  I continue my devotion to Reiki as a healing modality through further study, working with my teachers and teaching and guiding others.

• Shamanic Healer/Practitioner.  The vision of a specific symbol led me to my initial shamanic training with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.  I now combine my studies in shamanism with techniques from Native American, African and other indigenous traditions.  I also integrate my life experiences and guidance from spiritual teachers and the Creator into the work. 

• Publish Author and Speaker.  I am a contributing auther to the life coaching book, A Guide to Getting It: Purpose and Passion.  I wrote the chapter, "Who Stole Your Passion, Rediscovering Your Inner Fire."  My essay "Shamanism: My Path of Self-Discovery" was published in the anthology, spirited:  Affirming the Soul and Black Gay/Lesbian Identity.  For over three years, I published a weekly e-inspirational newsletter called Wisdoms from the Coach's Corner.  Coming soon is a new e-newsletter entited, Conversations with the Elders.  My work has appeared in the e-newsletter Path2Truth.com eZine.  I just completed the first draft of my book entitled, The Tree Whisperer: Notes and Meditations. 

• Education and Professional Background. Before evolving into the areas of spirituality, shamanism, alternative healing practices and spiritual life coaching, I worked many years in the non-profit arena and state government in education, outreach, and training and technical assistance.  My work took me into many different settings including neighborhood centers, schools, prisons, state and federal government,  boardrooms, workshops and conferences, and many places in between.  All of which are valuable experiences that support the work I do.  My education and training include:

  *  Christian Brothers University, Master of Business Administration

  *  Old Dominion University, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
